LET'S SING THE SONG CHAPTER 9 PART 2 AND 3

Hello Everyone, welcome back to my blog. So today the topic of my blog is let's sing the song

"Nothin' on You" is the debut single of both American rapper B.o.B and American singer-songwriter Bruno Mars, from B.o.B's debut studio album, B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray (2010). It was first released on December 15, 2009, via digital download by Atlantic Records. The track was written by B.o.B and its producers Mars, Philip Lawrence, and Ari Levine of the Smeezingtons. "Nothin' on You" was initially written for Lupe Fiasco, but Atlantic Records' chairman, Craig Kallman, gave it to B.o.B after being displeased with Fiasco's version. The song took several months to finish and was born from a hummed melody by Mars and Lawrence.

"Nothin' on You" is a pop rap, R&B and Southern hip hop ballad. Some music critics praised its sweetness and positive vibe, while a few criticized the track due to Mars's performance. The song's main structure relies on a Jim Jonsin-helmed-beat and a sample of Joe Tex's "I Gotcha". Lyrically, the record aims at a woman's heart by flattering and showing her she is unique. The single reached the number one position in some countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, the third and fifth spot in Australia and New Zealand, respectively, and the top ten in Canada. It was certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and once by Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) and Music Canada (MC).

Nothin' on You

Beautiful girls all over the world

I could be chasing but my time would be wasted

They got nothin' on you baby

Nothin' on you baby

No' no' no' nothin' on you babe

No' no' nothin' on you

I know you feel where I'm coming from

Regardless of the things in my past that I've done

Most of it really was for the hell of the fun

On the carousel so around I spun (Spun)

With no directions just tryna get some (Some)

Tryna chase skirts, living in the summer sun (Sun)

An' so I lost more than I had ever won

And honestly I ended up with none

There's so much nonsense

It's on my conscience

I'm thinking baby I should get it out

And I don't wanna sound redundant

But I was wondering, if there was something that you wanna know

(That you wanna know)

But never mind that we should let it go (We should let it go)

'Cause we don't wanna be a t.v episode (T.V. episode)

And all the bad thoughts just let them go (Go, go, go)

Beautiful girls all over the world

I could be chasing but my time would be wasted

They got nothin' on you baby

(No' no' no' nothin' on you babe)

(No' no' nothin' on you)

Nothin' on you baby

(No' no' no' nothin' on you babe)

(No' no' nothin' on you)

They might say hi (hi) and I might say hey (Hey)

But you shouldn't worry about what they say

'Cause they got nothin' on you baby

(No' no' no' nothin' on you babe)

(No' no' nothin' on you)

Nothin' on you baby

(No' no' no' nothin' on you babe)

(No' no' nothin' on you)

Hands down there will never be another one

I been around and I never seen another one

Because your style I ain't really got nothin' on

And you wow when you got nothin' on?

Baby you the whole package plus you pay your taxes

And you keep it real while them other stay plastic

You're my Wonder Women call me Mr. Fantastic

Stop, now think about it

I've been to London, I've been to Paris

Even way out there in Tokyo

Back home down in Georgia to New Orleans

But you always steal the show (steal the show)

And just like that girl you got a fro (Got a fro)

Like a Nintendo 64 (64)

If you never knew well now you know (Know, know, know)

Beautiful girls all over the world (All over)

I could be chasing but my time would be wasted (Haha)

They got nothin' on you baby

(No' no' no' nothin' on you babe)

(No' no' nothin' on you)

Nothin' on you baby

(No' no' no' nothin' on you babe)

(No' no' nothin' on you)

They might say hi (hi) and I might say hey (Hey)

But you shouldn't worry about what they say (Why?)

'Cause they got nothin' on you baby

(No' no' no' nothin' on you babe)

(No' no' nothin' on you)

Nothin' on you baby

Everywhere I go I'm always hearing your name (Name, name)

And no matter where I'm at girl you make me wanna sing (Sing)

Whether a bus or a plane (plane) or a car or a train (Train)

No other girls in my brain and you the one to blame (Blame)

Beautiful girls all over the world (All over)

I could be chasing but my time would be wasted (Why?)

They got nothin' on you baby

(No' no' no' nothin' on you babe)

(No' no' nothin' on you)

Nothin' on you baby

(No' no' no' nothin' on you babe)

(No' no' nothin' on you)

They might say hi (hi) and I might say hey (Hello)

But you shouldn't worry about what they say (Why?)

'Cause they got nothin' on you baby

(No' no' no' nothin' on you babe)

(No' no' nothin' on you)

Nothin' on you baby

(No' no' no' nothin' on you babe)

(No' no' nothin' on you)

Yeah and that's just how we do it, ha ha

And I'm a let this ride

Background and production

During the summer of 2009, the Smeezingtons were booked for a week of writing sessions for Lupe Fiasco, B.o.B and Travie McCoy.Bruno Mars and Philip Lawrence usually hummed melodies, while Aaron Bay-Schuck, former Atlantic A&R,encouraged both of them to develop the best of those melodies, such as "Nothin' on You" and "Billionaire". In the beginning, they only had scratch chorus demos of "Nothin' On You" and "Billionaire", with a guitar on the backing track and Mars singing on top of it.In an interview to MTV News Mars and Lawrence explained how the song was created. "Me and Phil always had that hook", said Mars; "It was a different melody at first, though," Lawrence added. In 2013, during an interview with Rolling Stone, Mars revealed he took inspiration from Prince's "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" (1994) for the hook of "Nothin' on You".The instrumental of the song was composed when Ari Levine programmed the drums, based on an old-school hip-hop beat. When Mars heard it, he started playing the piano and "Magically, that melody worked with this track we were doing", the latter explained."Nothin' on You" was finished a few months later, around November, with B.o.B working with the Smeezingtons to shape it. It was recorded with a couple of different arrangements.

The Meaning

When you tell someone that others “got nothing on you”, that’s another way of saying that he or she is best at whatever attribute(s) they possess which you are referring to.

Lets sing the song chapter 9 part 3

"Versace on the Floor" is a song by American singer Bruno Mars from his third studio album, 24K Magic (2016). Atlantic Records released the song as the only promotional single and the third official single from the album to Hot AC radio in the United States on June 12, 2017. "Versace on the Floor" was written by Mars, Philip Lawrence, Christopher Brody Brown and James Fauntleroy. Mars, Lawrence and Brown handled the track's production under the name Shampoo Press & Curl. A remix by French DJ David Guetta was released on June 27, 2017, for digital download and streaming in various countries. "Versace on the Floor" is an retro-styled R&B song reminiscent of the slow jams from the 1990s, and resembles the early works of Michael Jackson. The song's lyrics address romance, intimacy and Gianni Versace's clothing line.

Versace on the Floor

Let's take our time tonight, girl
Above us all the stars are watchin'
There's no place I'd rather be in this world
Your eyes are where I'm lost in
Underneath the chandelier
We're dancin' all alone
There's no reason to hide
What we're feelin' inside
Right now

So baby let's just turn down the lights
And close the door
Oooh I love that dress
But you won't need it anymore
No you won't need it no more
Let's just kiss 'til we're naked, baby

Versace on the floor
Oooh take it off for me, for me, for me, for me now, girl
Versace on the floor
Oooh take it off for me, for me, for me, for me now, girl

I unzip the back to watch it fall
While I kiss your neck and shoulders
No don't be afraid to show it off
I'll be right here ready to hold you
Girl you know you're perfect from
Your head down to your heels
Don't be confused by my smile
'Cause I ain't ever been more for real, for real

So just turn down the lights
And close the door
Oooh I love that dress
But you won't need it anymore
No you won't need it no more
Let's just kiss 'til we're naked, baby

Versace on the floor
Oooh take it off for me, for me, for me, for me now, girl
Versace on the floor
Oooh take it off for me, for me, for me, for me now, girl
Dance

It's warmin' up
Can you feel it?
It's warmin' up
Can you feel it?
It's warmin' up
Can you feel it, baby?
It's warmin' up
Oh, seems like you're ready for more, more, more
Let's just kiss 'til we're naked

Versace on the floor
Hey baby
Take it off for me, for me, for me, for me now, girl
Versace on the floor
Oooh take it off for me, for me, for me, for me now, girl

Background and production

In September 2014, Bruno Mars hinted he was working on new music with the tweet "Now it's time to start writing chapter 3". Following the release of the successful Mark Ronson and Mars's single "Uptown Funk" (2014), Mars headed to the studio to record more songs, and said he had no plans to release a new album "until it's done". It was due in March 2016, but his appearance at the Super Bowl half-time show postponed it for several months. At the time, seven songs were already recorded.

Critical Reception

"Versace on the Floor" received positive to mixed reviews from most music critics. Chris Gayomali and Max Berlinger of GQ praised the track for its throwback sound and highlighted the song's sexual lyrics. Gayomali described it as a "legitimate fuckjam and an old Shanice song", that would fit the Beverly Hills 90210 soundtrack. Berlinger felt it was "the ultimate slow-jam".Andrew Unterberger, writing for Billboard, called the song a "show-stopping 24K Magic centerpiece".Jackie Willis of Entertainment Tonight felt the single gave Boyz II Men "a run for their money!". Willis called the lyrics "super sultry and sexy".Vibe magazine's Desire Thompson complimented the lyrics for being "seductive".Sasha Geffen of MTV News and Nick Levine from NME shared that the song is reminiscent of school dances.

The Meaning

The title of this song (“Versace on the Floor”) gives a shoutout to the renowned luxury-fashion brand Versace. But in terms of the focus of its lyrical content, it’s safe to say that it is actually a fun in the bedroom song. In other words, the title refers to the addressee, the singer’s romantic interest, being disrobed, i.e. taking off the “Versace” dress that she’s wearing and letting it hit the “floor”.

And the intended purpose is for she and the singer to get it on. So the first and second verses are respectively dedicated to his infatuation with her and the process by which he romantically gets her.
